I am one that has to believe that there is going to be some strength in the financials in the coming future.  Valuation of these stocks are looking good and technically they are looking oversold.

i am going to close the position - latest MER announcement (it was nice to save the shareholders on Jul 17 and report $5 bill write down 10 days after the quarterly report. i would say that MER probably sold too much of XLF puts and waited for the options expiration) delivered the required blow and assuming that tomorrow trading will start from the MER in the blood bath this is a nice exit point or...
